TRICLEAR®

THE PRODUCT:   Triclear® is a three step acne system starts with a cleanser.  The cleanser isn’t bad, and it does contain a good moisturizing agent, hylaronic acid.   The interesting part of this system is the 2nd step - their acne treatment gel.  Triclear® states that it contains Silicol Dioxide, however Silicol is a name of another product that uses Silica (aka, silica dioxide) in their acne product.  We cant call it an acne treatment because this ingredient is not recognized by the FDA to treat acne in any way.  The odd claim here is that the Silica somehow absorbs excess oils on the skin.  Silica is a common substance and is found in many forms.  (for the wikipedia article click here) and maybe it does absorb excess oils.  However, even so it doesn’t clear up acne bacteria or unclog pores.  I’d approach this product with caution.

Their last step is similar to using a Stridex(R) pad or any salicylic acid acne medication.  It contains Salicylic Acid.  Salicylic acid is a good acne treatment when combined with other recognized acne medications.  It can unclog pores and help your skin shed excess dead cells.

WARNING:  The product is often advertised as free or that it has a free trial.  However if you read closely after 30 days, if you haven’t returned the product you will be billed a whopping $99.95!   We would recommend just using a good acne facial cleaner and salicylic acid pads you can find in any drugstore for a few dollars.
